Fortune And Faith
Being born wealthy and rich is always a dream desired by many people around the globe, others reveal they would do anything to posses the fancy lifestyle while others claim they would stretch across the world just to be wealthy. Wealth is a leisure aspect of life and it is commendable and nice to aim for a rich life if given the opportunity.
For Thompson, being born in a rich family was one of the best things a child could ask for, regarded as one of the rich families in central Africa. A lavish lifestyle was the word associated with the Thompsons and they did not disappoint the phrase for they lived glamorously as well as occupying one of the biggest mansions in the country. Thompson grew into a fine young man and in sharp contrast to his family’s expectations as well as the public decided to pursue a career in priest hood. Life was smooth for Thompson through the learning process and after two years He was ordained as a priest in the nearby town next to his home. His family was so proud of His achievement and despite their earlier hardened stance on the issue they were happy seeing him serving the lord.
As a priest Thompson had to let go of many habits and ways he was used to as he grew up of which some of these ways to many who knew His back ground predicted a career filled with trials and temptations for the determined Thompson. However each day he was determined to prove the onlookers wrong through his actions and dedication in serving both the Lord and people who came to Him in need of spiritual guidance. Thompson did well in his first year but in the second year things started crumbling down, the habits he had adopted from his family through his life became so hard to brush away.
One previous night before the communal giving He was passing near the room where all the wine and bread were kept for the next day’s service, burning with the desire to taste the wine He stole a bottle from the store. Lucky or unlucky for Him the shortfall wasn’t realized and to him it became a habit each time there was communal in the church. Day by day his faith grew smaller and smaller in his service to the lord and in a shameless manner He got expelled as a priest living a cloud of gossip and talk around the country from all who knew him and his family.
Angered and fearful of his tarnished reputation he decided to elope in a nearby country to fix his life together as well as to try and have a fresh start. This was not hard for him to manage since his wealthy back ground facilitated almost everything. He fell in love and married a very beautiful lady. Life had hardly started to shape up when he was mugged by unknown men robbed him off everything he had, gave him a thorough beating and left him a note written “shameless priest “. This was so hard for Mr. Thompson to bear and to top it up it was alleged that his wife had orchestrated the whole plan. Cursing his actions and life he decided to move to a far away country to embark on a new life independent of any of his families influence.
Thompson now is a married man with two kids living an average life as a tea farmer and attributes all his experience to bad family values and morals mostly associated with rich living and lack of guidance from parents and family members who thought money was the key to a prosperous life.
